The Center for Studies on Africa and Its Diaspora (CSAD) is highlighting a powerful event, elevating the healing and celebration of African American heritage through various activities across the weekend.
Friday, Sep 20: Time to Heal:
Join 500 participants for an evening of reflection and healing at “Ground Zero,” the former site of America's second-largest slave market. The guided meditation and libation ceremony will honor the intergenerational trauma of the African American community, fostering a collective vision for healing and renewal.
Saturday, Sep 21: Run Richmond 16.19 and Africa Reconnect:
Kickstart your morning with 3,000 participants in a cultural running and walking event that traces over 400 years of Black history along 6.19K and 16.19K routes, marked by historical sites. Later, celebrate African American culture at our Africa Reconnect festival with 2,000 participants, featuring vibrant dance performances, a drum circle, live music, and African-inspired cuisine.
