Drawing from the success of the annual CSAD Global Read-a-Thon, the Center for Studies on Africa and Its Diaspora has partnered with the Mandela Washington Fellowship to hold a summer Read-a-Thon. CSAD will continue with this year’s theme: GSU CSAD Global Read-a-Thon 2024 “The GOAT” (The Greatest of All Time). The annual CSAD Global Read-a-Thon unites countries around the world to celebrate books from Africa and the African diaspora, in honor of Black History Month. Readers will gather to debate “the greatest book of all time” from their respective countries. A panel of judges will vote and crown the winner. The subjective-yet-engaging event is meant to celebrate Black History Month and beyond, promote literacy, and stimulate global cross-cultural connections. Participants include fellows from Ghana, Tanzania, Nigeria, and Mauritius.
